Kayak & SUP surf session at Te Arai Point | with Paddle Guy

Ti Arai point with Paddle Guy

O n Saturday I headed to Te Arai Point for the first time to catch some waves with Ross and Stuart Murray. This was Stuart’s last day for a paddle before heading back home to Sydney, the weekend prior to this Stuart paddled from the entrance of the Manukau, Whatipu,  to the Tamaki river (with a portage on the way) , then back to Mission bay..that was just day 1 of his Epic Supexplore journeys, I was lucky to be along for the ride to video document the journey,  we will share in the coming days… I got some amazing video of this journey with some history of the trip…but for now we head for a play in the surf to say farewell to a new friend and infectious spirit…Stuart Murray

The 2 videos below will share more than I can in words about the mornings paddle, I was filming from the kayak using a GoPro and got some footage from the bank using my Panasonic handycam on a tripod… Stuart was surfing one of his own designed Suplove boards and Ross had his Jimmy Lewis SUP… this was my first time at Te Arai and the waves were perfect for me , a bit messy for the surfers which meant there were not too many of them around so mostly my runs could be taken anywhere…in the first wave I forgot I had my rudder down when coming in the the sand bank…SNAP!..I have not practiced enough without the rudder in surf so this was a good way to force my hand 🙂

Enjoy the below videos from this session…I will definitely be back to Te Arai for some more kayak surfing !
