Stanmore Bay kayak fishing session 20 October

Just a quick trip report from my paddle just now at Stanmore Bay.. last session I had some success trolling hard body lures  over the shallows..this time I took my Garmin Fishfinder and Garmin GPS along to try a few different options..I planned to use the fish finder to locate the correct depth water for the bibbed lure (this session I am trialling a 5m Lively Lures diver over the sand and a shallow water Rapala over the reef. My Garman GPS is going to help me work out what speeds I am doing with each lure and what speed gets the hook ups).. . the key difference since my last 2 trips is that the tide is a lot lower, but incoming. Fishing change of light which is where I had success previously.

I set off from the beach trolling the shallow water Rapala until I hit the 4m mark then switched the the Lively Lure 5 M diver,,, after trolling around for about 30 mins with no success  I headed back to the shallows and switched back to the Rapala.. another mins trolling the shallows and nothing, best bite time nearly upon me I headed to nice bit of reef that I spotted on the sounder while paddling around. Here I set the  sea anchor and switched to fresh cut mullet baits stray lined over the shallow weed.. this approach landed me a few snapper for the table… whilst trolling did not produce the goods this time I will persevere with approach and report on any successes over the coming months.. I am very interested to see if I can land some fish over the sand using this approach
